People Can Never Fully Understand Each Other — And That Creates New Shapes of Family
✨ People Can Never Fully Understand Each Other, and That’s What Makes It Interesting ✨

In my design classes, I sometimes give an unusual assignment: “A House for a Couple Who Value Distance.”
At first, students design walls and partitions to separate the couple completely. But in the end, they often leave some small opening, some possibility for the couple to reconnect.
This taught me something important. True partnership is not about perfect harmony or the “ideal happy family” image we often see. It is about finding ways to live together while accepting differences.
In today’s 100-year life era, happiness may no longer mean avoiding conflict. Perhaps it means being able to keep talking, to keep negotiating, even when we cannot fully understand each other.
💡 How do you see it? Have you ever found that “not fully understanding” someone actually created space for a new kind of relationship?
