ベイエリアで大人気のベーカリー「Milk Cloud Bakery」デザイン監修
ベイエリアで大人気のベーカリー「Milk Cloud Bakery」が、2026年7月、米国カリフォルニア州バークレーにオープンしました。当事務所は、この店舗のデザイン監修を担当しています。
日本の食パンは、いま海外でも大きな支持を集めています。Milk Cloud Bakeryは、その食パンを看板に、ポップアップの頃から多くのファンを集めてきたお店です。
デザインの考え方
建物がもともと持っていた伝統的な外観と、ポップアップ時代から愛されてきたお店の空気感。この二つを無理なくつなぐことが設計の主題でした。どちらかに寄せるのではなく、既存の佇まいを尊重しながら、店主の人柄とパンの魅力が伝わる場所になるよう調整しています。

Design Direction for Milk Cloud Bakery, Berkeley, CA
Milk Cloud Bakery, one of the Bay Area’s most loved bakeries, opened in Berkeley, California in July 2026. Our office provided design direction for the shop.
Japanese milk bread (shokupan) has found a wide audience well beyond Japan. Milk Cloud Bakery built its name on it, drawing a devoted following long before there was a storefront.
Design Approach
The building came with a traditional exterior and its own history, and the bakery arrived with a feeling of its own. The aim was to let those two meet without either one shouting, keeping the architecture’s character intact while carrying the bakery’s warmth inside.
